President Trump to Stump for Loeffler and Perdue in Georgia the Eve of Election Runoff

President Donald Trump will host another Georgia rally in a show of support to incumbent Senators Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) and David Perdue (R-GA). The “Victory Rally” will occur January 4th, one day before the runoff election date for the two senate seats.

Others joining Trump at the rally are incumbent Georgia Public Service Commissioner Lauren “Bubba” McDonald, Jr., and a coalition of unnamed Republicans. McDonald will also appear on the January 5th election runoff ballot, defending his District 4 position for the Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC). The incumbent will face Democratic challenger Daniel Blackman. Prior to serving as commissioner, McDonald served two decades as a state representative.

Trump tweeted the news of the rally on Sunday.

“On behalf of two GREAT Senators, @sendavidperdue & @KLoeffler, I will be going to Georgia on Monday night, January 4th, to have a big and wonderful RALLY,” wrote Trump. “So important for our Country that they win!”

CASE

Loeffler responded on Monday to the news, including the link for free tickets to the event.

“We’re SO excited to welcome @realDonaldTrump back to Georgia on January 4th for a rally with @Perduesenate and me – you won’t want to miss this HISTORIC rally!” tweeted Loeffler.

Loeffler and Perdue are facing off against Democratic challengers Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. Both Warnock and Ossoff have raised more than their respective opponents, breaking all fundraising records for previous Senate races. This is the second race that Ossoff has broken campaign fundraising records: the candidate’s 2017 run in a special election for Georgia’s District 6 seat became the most expensive U.S. House race.

As reported previously in The Georgia Star News, Trump stumped for Loeffler and Perdue at the beginning of this month in Valdosta. A few days prior to the President’s Valdosta rally, Vice President Mike Pence hosted a rally to support the two incumbent senators in Savannah.

Less than a week later, Pence hosted another rally for Perdue and Loeffler in Augusta.

Neither incumbent’s campaign responded to request for comment from The Star by press time.

Rally tickets are limited; only two may be assigned per mobile number. The event is scheduled for 7 pm EST at Dalton Regional Airport.
