Representative-Elect Diana Harshbarger Joins Coalition to Object to Electoral College Results

Representative-elect Diana Harshbarger announced Thursday that she will object to the Electoral College results during next week’s certification.

“On Jan 6 when the Electoral College meets, I will join my other GOP [colleagues] in objecting,” wrote Harshbarger. “I stand for free and fair elections, and I am ready to fight for Tennessee and our Country.”

Harshbarger tagged President Donald Trump, and attached a picture of a lengthier statement. The attached explanation mentioned her previous support of a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA-12), which requested a formal investigation into the general election.

“I believe it is the duty of Congress to ensure that right [of free and fair elections],” wrote Harshbarger. “Multiple states are engaged in litigation and thousands of witnesses have submitted sworn affidavits of reported fraud related to the 2020 presidential election. Our constituents demand that these reported gross violations of our elections process are investigated seriously with the intent of restoring confidence in our electoral process.”

CASE

Harshbarger has joined a coalition of congressional leaders representing 15 different states. Harshbarger’s fellow representative-elects that plan to object are: Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA-14), Andrew Clyde (R-GA-09), Madison Cawthorn (R-NC-11), Barry Moore (R-AL-02), Jerry Carl (R-AL-01), Bob Good (R-VA-05), Lauren Boebert (R-CO-03), Ronny Jackson (R-TX-13), Burgess Owens (R-UT-04), Byron Daniels (R-FL-19), and Yvette Herrell (R-NM-02).

The only other Tennessee representative who currently plans to object to the results is Representative Mark Green (R-TN-07). Other sitting representatives planning to object are Mo Brooks (R-AL-05), Matt Gaetz (R-FL-01), Jody Hice (R-GA-10), Brian Babin (R-TX-36), Louie Gohmert (R-TX-01), Lance Gooden (R-TX-05), Ted Budd (R-NC-13), Jeff Duncan (R-SC-03), Ralph Norman (R-SC-05), Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ-02), Paul Gosar (R-AZ-04), and Scott Perry (R-PA-10).

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) is the sole senator objecting to the certification process.

Harshbarger defeated Democratic candidate Blair Walsingham by nearly 50 points during the general election. She will succeed Representative Phil Roe (R-TN-01), who served the district for over a decade.
