U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk Earns ‘Taxpayer Super Hero’ Award from Citizens Against Government Waste

Staff at the Washington, D.C.-based Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) have named U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA-11) a “Taxpayer Super Hero.”

The CAGW has evaluated every Congressional member’s voting record on how they voted on issues to eliminate waste, mismanagement, and inefficiency in government, and protecting hardworking taxpayers.

This, according to an emailed newsletter that Loudermilk emailed late last week.

“One of the biggest problems with Congress is the growing belief that government can fix most any problem if we just throw enough money at it. I believe Americans are capable of fixing their own problems, if we can just get government out of their way,” Loudermilk told his constituents in his newsletter.

CASE

“Those of us in Congress have to remember that it is the hard-earned money of the American taxpayers we are spending, and every dollar that goes into a big government program is a dollar that was taken out of the wallet of a hardworking American. This is exactly how I approach every vote I make in Congress; and, I will continue to stand up for hardworking Americans and support policies that lower taxes and promote investment in job creation. Thank you, Citizens Against Government Waste, for this distinguished recognition, and for holding members of Congress accountable.”

CCAGW this month, according to a press release, released its 2020 Congressional Ratings, highlighting the voting records of all 535 voting members of Congress during the second session of the 116th Congress. The report, which CCAGW has issued since 1989, identifies members whose voting records helped protect taxpayer dollars, as well as those who consistently voted against their interests.

CCAGW rates members on a 0 to 100 percent scale. Members are placed in the following categories:

• Hostile: 0-19 percent.

• Unfriendly: 20-39 percent.

• Lukewarm: 40-59 percent.

• Friendly: 60-79 percent.

• Taxpayer Hero: 80-99 percent.

• Taxpayer Super Hero: 100 percent.

Ten senators earned the coveted title of “Taxpayer Super Hero” with a perfect score of 100 percent.

Loudermilk, meanwhile, was one of 80 U.S. representatives to earn a perfect score of 100 percent.
