Georgia State House Seats with National Implications Up for Grabs in July Runoff

After no candidate succeeded in obtaining more than 50 percent of the vote Tuesday’s state House primaries, the two special elections are headed for a runoff. One of those special elections has national implications. 

Republican Devan Seabaugh will square off against Democrat Priscilla Smith for a seat in House District 34, in Cobb County. That seat could be an early indicator of voters’ satisfaction with President Joe Biden.

Supreme Court Unanimously Sides with Catholic Adoption Agency in Religious Freedom Case

Jobless Claims Increase to 412,000, Above Economists’ Projections

The number of Americans filing new unemployment claims increased to 412,000 last week as the economy continues to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Department of Labor.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics figure released Thursday represented an increase in the number of new jobless claims compared to the week ending June 5, when 375,000 new jobless claims were reported. That number was revised down from the 376,000 jobless claims initially reported last week.

Koch Network Says Congress Must Make Amnesty for Illegals a Priority

The highly-connected and well-funded network of donors, think tanks, and other institutions run by the Koch Brothers is pushing for Congress to “immediately prioritize” amnesty for illegal aliens, as Breitbart reports.
