Evangelist Franklin Graham this week told Georgia residents that they must vote in Tuesday’s two U.S. Senate run-offs because “the soul of our nation is at stake.”
Graham said this on his Facebook page.
“Please encourage your family, your friends, your community to pray and to vote. If conservatives lose control of the Senate, there is nothing to stop the radical agenda of the left. There will not be another chance to get this right. The nation is depending on you,” Graham said.
“Why are these two seats so important? The control of the U.S. Senate is at stake. The Senate is the last line of defense to block the radical, wicked agenda that is trying to take control of our nation. These two seats will determine whether liberal socialist-leaning progressives OR conservative lawmakers have a majority. The policies supported by those on the left promise to be openly hostile to those who hold Christian beliefs.”
As reported, U.S. Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) and U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), are on the January 5 ballot for the U.S. Senate against Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, respectively.
“Liberal, so-called progressives, immediately want to pass The Equality Act which is anything but equal. It is an attempt to rid our country of religious freedom protections. Progressives could pass this easily and quickly with control of the Senate. Friends, this is dangerous,” Graham wrote.
As reported, both Warnock and Ossoff support the Equality Act, which would prohibit business owners from not employing or denying their services to LGBTQ+ individuals. There are no provisions within the bill excluding religious beliefs.
“This would change our nation at its very foundation — and yes, it would also greatly change your everyday life,” Graham said.
“It will vastly alter the America that we leave for our children and grandchildren.”
As The Tennessee Star reported in 2019, Democrats assumed the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives that year. Afterwards, people who testified in that chamber of Congress no longer had to say “so help me God” under oath.
Graham criticized what Democrats did. He said at the time that “many politicians don’t want God in any part of their politics or our country’s business because His standards condemn their sins.”
