Governor Kemp Picks Up Additional Law Enforcement Endorsement

Governor Brian Kemp picked up an additional endorsement from the Police Benevolent Association of Georgia, which is a division of a larger law enforcement group.

The incumbent, who is running for a second term, often touts his public safety record, including bonuses for law enforcement officers.

“Governor Kemp has shown great leadership in our state. In these difficult times, he has not made decisions based on political correctness, but on what was right for businesses and citizens to safely move forward in Georgia,” Police Benevolent Association of Georgia President Joe Naia said. “When others were painting law enforcement as evil, our governor remained committed to the law enforcement community. The PBA of Georgia is honored to give our endorsement for a second term.”

Kemp, who is taking on Democrat Stacey Abrams, has picked up the endorsement of more than 100 sheriffs across the state.

Meanwhile, Abrams has made headlines due to her connections to organizations that advocated for the “Defund the Police” movement. The Democrat serves on the board of the Marguerite Casey Foundation, which has routinely posted support for the movement on social media.

In total, Abrams accepted more than $50,000 from the organization.

At the same time, Abrams’ campaign spent roughly $450,000 on private security costs.

“Marty, the girls, and I are forever grateful to the law enforcement professionals that continue to put their lives on the line to protect and serve everyday Georgians. There’s not a day that goes by where we don’t pray for these men and women in uniform as they stand in the gap to keep our fellow citizens safe,” responded Governor Kemp. “I’m honored to have the support of the Police Benevolent Association of Georgia in this election, and I will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with law enforcement across our state to build a safer, stronger Georgia.”
