Perdue Issues Statement on ‘Out of Control’ Crime in Georgia and Threats Against SCOTUS

The Trump-endorsed candidate in the May 24 Republican primary, former U.S. Senator David Perdue, issued a statement on Monday in the aftermath of the shooting of six people on Mother’s Day.

“This is another tragic example of what happens when a governor keeps his ‘powder dry’ instead of taking bold action to keep people safe. Crime is out of control across the state. People are being shot daily, but Brian Kemp is missing in action,” he said.

“This disaster is happening on his watch. My question to the people of Georgia is, do you feel safe? If not, then it’s time for a new governor. Nothing is more important to me than ensuring you and your family are safe.”

On Tuesday, Perdue additionally responded in a statement to threats against U.S. Supreme Court justices and the vandalizing of churches in the wake of the leaked SCOTUS draft decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

“Having witnessed intimidation and attempted mob rule during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, I’ve seen firsthand how the radical left is trying to use tactics from totalitarian states to influence public policy,” he said.

“Now we see the same attempted bullying and mob rule going on with pro-abortion groups threatening Supreme Court justices and vandalizing churches,” added the former senator. “This behavior is unacceptable and has to stop now.”

Perdue additionally stated what he would do if he were governor of Georgia.

“As governor, I would ensure that our churches, synagogues, and religious institutions in Georgia are protected. Intimidation and harassment will not be tolerated. It’s time that we get back to civil political discourse, which is essential to our democratic republic,” he concluded.

Perdue’s campaign says, “Trump-endorsed David Perdue launched his campaign for governor of Georgia on Dec. 6th, 2021. As an outsider, Perdue’s bold, conservative vision includes fighting for election integrity, eliminating the state income tax, empowering parents to make decisions in their children’s education, and making our cities and state safe again. Perdue is taking on incumbent Brian Kemp as the only candidate who can unite Georgia’s fractured Republican Party and defeat Stacey Abrams in November.”

No Democrat is running against Abrams and she is the de facto Democrat nominee in the race.
