PVS Plastics Technology Corporation officials recently announced that the company will invest $6.9 million to establish its second U.S. facility in Johnson City.

PVS, which describes itself as an “environmentally friendly plastics company,” is based in Niedernhall, Germany. The company specializes in manufacturing electric motor and fan components for the automotive and commercial HVAC industries.
The company’s investment project in Johnson City will allow it to be “closer to one of its long-time customers,” ebm-papst Group, which is a manufacturer of electric motors and fans, according to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD).
“We are thrilled to be setting up shop so close to ebm-papst, one of our long-time customers, in order to support its expansion in the U.S. market for energy-efficient ventilation technology,” PVS Plastics Technology Corporation CEO Rich Tursic said in a statement.
In addition, the project will allow the company to “manufacture and supply injection molding plastics for industries needing high-tech solutions,” TNECD notes.
The company will establish manufacturing operations in a 54,000-square-foot facility on Wesinpar Drive in Johnson City. According to TNECD, the project is expected to create 26 new jobs in Washington County.
Governor Bill Lee said that Tennessee is “the best state in the nation” for companies like PVS to establish operations in, citing the state’s “thriving economy, strong business climate and highly skilled workforce.”
“I thank PVS for its $7 million investment in Tennessee to create new jobs and greater opportunity for families across Washington County,” Lee added.
Noting how “Germany is one of Tennessee’s top foreign direct investment partners” with “nearly 21,000 Tennesseans employed by German companies,” TNECD Commissioner Stuart McWhorter added, “We are excited that PVS has chosen to locate its second U.S. facility right here in Northeast Tennessee and look forward to seeing this project come to fruition.”
