Georgia Rep. McBath’s Move to New Congressional District Highlights Republican Strength, Says Candidate Jake Evans

U.S. Representative Lucy McBath (D-GA-06) on Monday announced that she will run in a different district established by Georgia’s redistricting process, abandoning her current district.

Republican Jake Evans, a candidate for Congress in the Sixth Congressional District, argued the move by McBath highlights growing support for the GOP as the 2022 elections approach.

“Lucy McBath has provided Biden and Pelosi unquestioning support for an agenda that has led to reckless spending, crippling inflation, a crisis at our border and, soon to come, big tax hikes. It’s a record that won’t fly in the Sixth District, and it’s no wonder she has fled to another district,” Evans said in a statement.

“Our voters are ready for the Great American Comeback with the leadership of a bold and unafraid America First conservative. I will stand up for lower taxes, less spending, strong borders, election integrity, the sanctity of life, and the Second Amendment, and I will fight against vaccine mandates and the indoctrination of our children with CRT. I have been in this race for almost five months to fight for the people, not for political opportunism or special interests,” he continued.

Republicans across the country have been encouraged by a string of recent election victories that could translate to a successful midterm election. Furthermore, President Joe Biden’s approval numbers continue to decline.

The Georgia attorney was originally selected by Governor Nathan Deal in 2016 to serve on the commission and remained in his position for the past five years, until he stepped down to run for Congress.

The candidate also has connections to former President Donald Trump. His father, Randy Evans, served as an ambassador to Luxembourg under Trump and was an adviser to former Speaker Newt Gingrich.
