The Republican Governor’s Association (RGA) Wednesday released an attack ad on Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, who will square off for a rematch against Governor Brian Kemp (R) in the Peach State’s November election.
“Typical Stacey Abrams. She believes only she knows what’s best,” the ad opens after quoting Abrams, who once said that she thinks people need to be told what to do.
The ad continued, hitting Abrams on the issue of COVID-19 restrictions. She notoriously favored strict restrictions on Georgians during the pandemic, while in some cases ignoring those restrictions herself.
“Schools closed, strict mandates on everyone but herself,” the ad says. “But Stacey believes she can spend your money better than you. That’s why she supported higher gas taxes, a new sales tax [and] supports higher property taxes.”
“In Abrams’ Georgia, it’s all about her – not you,” the ad concludes.
While Stacey Abrams was embracing economy-killing lockdowns and higher taxes, @BrianKempGA was fighting for hardworking Georgians.

The ad was released just hours after Kemp was declared the winner of the Republican primary election, handily beating three other candidates including former Senator David Perdue (R-GA).
The RGA endorsed Kemp in the primary race.
An RGA spokesman did not return a Wednesday comment request.
Abrams released a dueling monologue Wednesday on Twitter.
“Hi, I’m Stacey Abrams, and I’m proud to be the Democratic nominee for governor of Georgia,” said Abrams, who ran unopposed in the open primary election.
“Whether you voted for me or not, I’m proud that so many people turned out and tuned into this election, and I’m going to work hard to earn every person’s vote, because this election isn’t about me,” she said.
“And from now until November, there are going to be so many twists and turns,” she said later in the ad. “I’m gonna work hard, but I’m gonna make mistakes. But I want you to know is what will remain constant is my commitment to you.”
Abrams made one of those mistakes just days ago.
“I am tired of being told that we are the best state in the country to do business when we are the worst state in the country to live,” she said in a speech last week.
That comment earned a response from Kemp.
“Stacey Abrams may think differently, but I believe Georgia is the best state to live, work, and raise a family. And Marty, the girls, and I will work hard every day from now until November to keep it that way for four more years!” Kemp said on Twitter.

This year’s election day is November 8.
