Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA)’s re-election campaign has overwhelmingly been funded by out-of-state donors, according to the latest disclosures filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
Warnock has set records in the fundraising battle, as he announced raising more than $13 million in the most recent quarter.
After the announcement of the staggering fundraising numbers, Warnock’s campaign connected the amount to support within Georgia.
“From fighting to cap the cost of insulin and lower prices at the gas pump to pushing for student loan debt relief, Rev. Warnock’s commitment to serving the people of Georgia continues to drive the biggest grassroots fundraising effort in any Senate race this cycle,” campaign manager Quentin Fulks said in a statement.
However, an analysis performed by the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) showed roughly 11 percent of individual donations made in the previous fundraising quarter came from within Georgia. Of the $7,181,954.84 the campaign brought in through individual contributions, less than $900,000 originated in the state.
Furthermore, an overall picture of the money Warnock has brought in throughout the campaign paints a similar picture. According to information from the FEC, the highest total from a specific state is the more than $5.5 million hauled in from California.
Additionally, approximately $2.9 million has flowed to the Democrat from donors in New York.
When focusing on the money given by donors in Georgia, Warnock posts similar numbers to GOP candidate Herschel Walker. Warnock has brought in $2.9 million in the state, compared to Walker’s $2.5 million.
During the same period as Warnock’s record-setting numbers, Walker took in more than $5 million, dramatically outpacing his other Republican rivals.
“The Republican nominee against Warnock will have to raise money and bring new voters to the table. I am doing both,” Walker said in a statement.
