Senators Cruz, Hagerty, and More Slam Biden’s First-Ever Border Visit as ‘Too Late,’ ‘Propaganda’

by Madeleine Hubbard

President Joe Biden on Sunday landed in the border town of El Paso, Texas, and his visit is being criticized as “too late” and a “propaganda event,” as record numbers of illegal migrants have entered the United States since he entered office.

“Biden’s promise to secure the border is too little, and two years late. Irreversible damage has been done,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) tweeted. “Over 313,000 illegal aliens flooded the border last month. 5.3M illegal aliens since Biden took office.”

Ahead of the president’s visit, the city of El Paso partnered with Border Patrol agents to dismantle the city’s expansive downtown migrant camps, moving the homeless migrants out of view.

“President Biden’s border policies will only encourage more illegal immigration,” Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) said.

“So now a Biden staged propaganda event [is] on the border,” conservative talk show host Mark Levin tweeted in response to the news about El Paso relocating the migrants.

“Predictable,” Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted about the migrants being cleared. “Biden does not want America to see the chaos that he has caused on the border. This is just a photo op and a game of pretend.”

Days before his visit to the border, the Biden administration announced several sweeping migration plans. The Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday proposed expanding immigration fee exemptions while increasing other immigration costs by hundreds of dollars. On Thursday, the White House announced that every month, 30,000 qualifying migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela will be paroled into the United States for two years at a time while 30,000 other migrants from these nations will be removed or returned to Mexico every month.

Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) echoed Cruz in her criticism of Biden’s visit, which she called, “too little too late.”

“He doesn’t get a pat on the back for finally visiting the southern border after two years of self-inflicted chaos and putting forward a plan that doesn’t fully fund border security technology and the wall or provide needed resources for Border Patrol agents,” Hinson said.

“Joe Biden’s supposed visit to the southern border won’t matter unless he sees what’s happening and COMMITS to securing the border,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) tweeted.

After visiting El Paso on Sunday afternoon, Biden is scheduled to travel to Santa Lucía, Mexico.
