Vernon Jones Calls Joe Biden’s Visit to Georgia ‘a Slap in the Face’

Former Georgia State Rep. and declared gubernatorial candidate Vernon Jones on Thursday called U.S. President Joe Biden’s visit to Atlanta “a slap in the face to those who live here.”

Biden traveled to the Atlanta area Thursday to celebrate his first 100 days in office.

Jones this month blasted current Gov. Brian Kemp’s job performance during last year’s elections. Jones took jabs at the president in an emailed press release Thursday.

“Biden’s disinformation campaign, regarding the Georgia Election Integrity Act, is crippling minority-owned small businesses in Georgia by encouraging boycotts against the state. Biden recently encouraged the relocation of the 2021 MLB All-Star Game away from Georgia – a move that is projected to cost the Atlanta region over $100 million in potential business. Now, he wants to come to that very same city, and tout his new infrastructure and ‘jobs’ plan? Self-awareness is clearly not one of Joe Biden’s strongest attributes,” Jones said.

CASE

“Why can Joe Biden come to Georgia, but MLB baseball can’t? It’s because Joe Biden is just another liberal hypocrite. He is really coming to take a tour of a disaster that was not caused by God, but was caused by liberals. And it’s not only an embarrassment, but it’s also a slap in the face to many of us in Georgia. Joe Biden and his radical ally, Stacey Abrams shamefully labeled the new election integrity law ‘Jim Crow 2.0,’ which is an insult to the millions of black Americans. The truth is that this law takes common-sense steps to protect the sanctity of every legal vote while expanding access to the ballot box, making it easy to vote, and hard to cheat.”

Georgia’s new voter integrity law requires voter ID on all absentee ballots, increases oversight of local election boards that fail to follow state election law, and secures drop boxes around the clock. Major League Baseball officials announced this month they will relocate the 2021 All-Star Game and MLB Draft, originally scheduled for Atlanta, to another location. MLB officials specifically cited Georgia’s voter integrity law, also known as Senate Bill 202 as the reason.

Jones cited the MLB pullout in his press release.

“The dishonest rhetoric by the left has pressured the MLB to relocate its game, and its money, a decision that will ultimately hurt the black and brown people they claim to care about. The game is moving from Atlanta, which is 51percent black and moving it to Denver, which is only 9 percent black. Not only will black-owned and small businesses take a hit, but hard-working restaurant workers, hotel staff, janitors, and stadium vendors will too,” Jones said.

“And where was Governor Brian Kemp during this whole debacle?  Perhaps, instead of sitting for endless TV interviews posing as the poster boy for election integrity, he should have been making a much stronger effort to reach out directly to the MLB to explain the new law and the devastating impact the League’s move would have on hard working Georgians. Jim Crow Joe better be ready to explain why he encouraged the MLB All-Star game to relocate, taking $100 Million Dollars away from Atlanta’s small business owners.”

According to Ballotpedia, Jones served in the Georgia House of Representatives as a Democrat between 2017 until January of this year. He left the Democratic Party in 2021 and switched to the GOP.

Jim Crow Joe should be ashamed to show his face in Georgia. I mean why would he come to this hick, racist state and where is our $2000? And Stacy Abrams is trying to hide behind lies saying she is not responsible for this mess. Yes, you are! Only a clown would act proud of his 100 days! Mumbling, stumbling lying China Joe!
