Georgia GOP Launches Website Defending 2020 Contingent Electors for Trump

The Georgia Republican Party announced on Wednesday that it has launched a website defending the contingent electors for former President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election as they have been targeted by the Fulton County district attorney’s investigation.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is investigating Trump for challenging the 2020 presidential election, previously notified the 16 Republican contingent electors that they were targets of her investigation. In May, at least eight of the electors were granted immunity in the probe.

All 16 of Georgia’s electoral votes were cast for President Joe Biden in 2020, who received 11,779 more votes than Trump in Georgia for the popular vote.

Because of the investigation and media reports on the contingent electors, the Georgia GOP created a website to explain what the electors did, the precedent for their actions, and the lawsuit that was pending at the time.

In the announcement of the website, electortruth.com, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Josh McKoon said in a statement on Monday, “The sixteen men and women who served as contingent Republican electors in Georgia during the 2020 election are patriots who did their legal duty pursuant to established legal precedent and the plain language of federal and Georgia law. Yet they have been repeatedly smeared by The Atlanta Journal Constitution and hounded by politically motivated investigators and prosecutors.

“The fact that these patriots have been ‘targeted’ by Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis is an outrageous assault on the rule and law and our First Amendment freedoms,” McKoon (pictured above) added.
