Audio emerged on Wednesday of a conversation between embattled Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and Amanda Timpson, a former subordinate who claims she blew the whistle to Willis about an alleged plan to misuse federal funding by a former member of her campaign who Willis retained as part of her team after taking office.
Timpson recorded the audio on November 21, 2021, according to The Washington Free Beacon, which originally unearthed the clip. This means Willis and Timpson spoke about alleged wrongdoing in at the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office just under three weeks after Willis hired her alleged romantic partner, private defense attorney Nathan Wade, to oversee the criminal case against former President Donald Trump.
In the audio, which is just over two minutes long, Willis requested Timpson provide “a theme” of her allegations against Cuffee, and Timpson claims Cuffee sought to use a federal grant to pay for travel expenses as well as MacBooks and other “swag.” After she objected, Timpson claimed Cuffee retaliated by badmouthing her to other employees and reducing her workload.
“Cuffee, and this is my personal opinion, one woman to another, is dangerous to your administration.” Timpson told Willis, adding that he claimed to be tightly connected to Willis and other top officials in her office. Willis acknowledged she has “three supervisors that have failed in the field” but characterized Cuffee’s claims as a possible “intimidation tactic.”

Willis ultimately fired Timpson in January 2022, and Timpson filed a whistleblower lawsuit in April 2022. She alleged Willis fired her because she objected to Cuffee’s alleged misuse of federal funds. A statement from Willis’ office characterized Timpson as “a holdover from the prior administration” whose “failure to meet the standards of the new administration led to her termination.”

The legal filing by Michael Roman, a defendant in Willis’ case against Trump who claimed to have evidence Willis is engaged in an affair with Wade, reveals that Wade did not send his invoice for services rendered to Willis’ office in November 2021 until January 5, 2022, and requested payment for the services be completed by February 5.
Wade has been compensated more than $650,000 since he was appointed as a special prosecutor by Willis, and one day after his appointment, he filed for divorce against his estranged wife, Joycelyn Wade.
Credit card statements from the divorce case revealed Wade bought plane tickets to popular vacation destinations in Willis’ name, potentially linking her to the divorce. However, Nathan and Joycelyn Wade reached a temporary settlement in their divorce case on Tuesday, potentially eliminating the possibility Willis will be deposed or called to testify about their alleged affair.
In addition to criminal referrals, a complaint with the State Bar of Georgia, and a demand for answers by the Fulton County Audit Committee, last Friday, the Georgia State Senate voted to approve a committee to investigate Willis’ alleged wrongdoings.
Willis must file a response to Roman’s claims in court by Friday and will appear before Judge Scott McAfee to respond on February 15.
