Georgia U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Introduces Impeachment Inquiry on Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas

Georgia U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA-14) filed an impeachment inquiry on Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas this week to urge the House Committee on the Judiciary to “launch a comprehensive investigation into his dereliction of duty and violation of border security laws.”

A House Judiciary Committee impeachment inquiry would investigate whether there is enough evidence to bring an impeachment case against Mayorkas.

The Georgia congresswoman said she “firmly believes it is time to finally address the serious concerns surrounding Secretary Mayorkas’ actions which have compromised the safety and sovereignty of our nation,” according to a press release by Greene’s office.

“Secretary Mayorkas has aided and abetted the invasion of our country, deliberately flooding it with drugs, terrorists, and illegal immigrants from over 160 countries,” Greene’s office adds.

In a statement regarding her impeachment inquiry filing, Greene said, “The sheer magnitude of approximately 6 million illegal border encounters and the record amount of fentanyl, totaling approximately 40,000 pounds, seized under Secretary Mayorkas’s tenure is deeply troubling. With over 300 Americans dying from fentanyl each day, these numbers underscore his dereliction of duty and blatant violation of border security laws.”

Greene also cited the “prioritization of distributing American resources to illegals over American citizens,” in her reason for filing an impeachment inquiry on Mayorkas.

“[Mayorkas] provided copious amounts of baby formula to illegal aliens at one of the largest processing centers in the country, while American mothers and infants were enduring severe shortages. This unequal and America Last treatment caused significant distress among American families who were already facing challenging circumstances. Additionally, Secretary Mayorkas’s policies led to a flood of illegal aliens in a hospital’s maternity unit, resulting in American mothers being compelled to delay their inductions. Such actions further exacerbated the strain on healthcare resources and deprived American citizens of the timely care they deserve,” the press release from Greene’s office states.

“These incidents underscore the need for a thorough investigation into Secretary Mayorkas’s decision-making and its impact on the well-being of American families,” the press release further adds.

Last month, in what she dubbed “Impeachment Week,” Greene introduced Articles of Impeachment against Mayorkas, President Joe Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland, U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, and FBI Director Christopher Wray.
