Mel Gibson is reportedly planning to start filming a sequel to his 2004 film “The Passion of the Christ.”

“The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection” will focus on the crucifixion and the events that Christians believe happened from Christ’s death until his resurrection, according to the entertainment outlet World of Reel.

Gibson is working with “Braveheart” screenwriter Randall Wallace on the sequel’s screenplay, and six drafts have been written already.

Actor Jim Caviezel, who played Christ in the first film is set reprise his role in the sequel.

CASE

The sequel to “Passion” has been in development for about a decade. Critics said the original movie, which grossed more than $600 million on a $30 million budget, was antisemitic and extremely violent.
