Trump Criticizes Ducey for Veto of Critical Race Theory and Election Security Bills

Former President Donald Trump slammed Arizona Governor Doug Ducey on Wednesday for vetoing bills that would have outlawed Critical Race Theory (CRT) training for state employees and another that would prevent mailing ballots to individuals who did not request them.

“Incredible to see that RINO Governor Doug Ducey of Arizona just vetoed a bill that would have outlawed Critical Race Theory training for State employees, and another that would have banned the mailing of ballots to citizens who never requested them,” Trump said in his statement.

Ducey recently vetoed 22 bills that were passed by the state legislature — two of which prevented CRT training and the universal mailing of ballots. Further, he promised to not sign any additional bills until a budget is passed by the legislature.

“This weekend marks one month until the end of the fiscal year, and Arizonans are counting on us to work together and pass a budget that provides certainty for taxpayers and citizens. Until that happens, I do not intend on signing any additional bills transmitted by the Legislature,” Ducey said in a press release.

However, Trump and other critics argue that the budget was a “guise.” He continued on to say, “For those of you who think Doug Ducey is good for Arizona, you are wrong.”

Ducey has been a constant target of criticism from President Trump. Ducey quickly dismissed concerns over the November 2020 election. He defended the current election laws in place and actions taken by Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs.

The former president also questioned the efforts taken by Attorney General Mark Brnovich, saying his needs to “step it up,” referring to Brnovich’s actions to investigate concerns of election security throughout the state.
