Mike Collins, former candidate for Congress and trucking executive, officially launched his campaign on Tuesday to represent Georgia’s Tenth Congressional District.
The seat which Collins is aiming for is being vacated by Congressman Jody Hice (R-GA-10). Hice, instead of running for reelection to Congress, has decided to begin a primary challenge attempt against embattled Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
When formally announcing his campaign, Collins in a tweet described himself as a “conservative outsider and small businessman.”

In a statement describing why he elected to run for the seat, Collins said, “The liberals in Washington, D.C. won’t stop until someone stands up to them, and for hard-working Georgians. I’m pro-Trump, pro-life and will protect our Second Amendment rights.” He continued, “I won’t bow to the woke mob’s cancel culture or Nancy Pelosi’s job-killing, gun-grabbing agenda.”
According to his campaign website, Collins owns a trucking company of which he grew one semi-truck to a fleet of 115. Further, he said he learned an “appreciation for American Dream” by sweeping floors in his dad’s shop at the age of 12. Because of these experiences, Collins said, “I’m running to fight for the families and small business owners in my community and around the country.”
Collin’s father represented Georgia in the House of Representatives. He served during the “Republican Revolution” during the 1990s.
This is not Collins’ first time running to represent Georgia’s 10th Congressional District. In 2014, Collins narrowly lost to Hice by a total of 265 votes.
He joins a crowded field of Republican candidates vying for the open position. Roughly half a dozen other individuals have launched campaigns — including Georgia Revenue Commissioner David Curry, businessman Matt Richards, former U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, and state Rep. Timothy Barr.
