New Greater Georgia Billboard Blames Democrats and Major League Baseball for ‘Costly Misinformation’

Greater Georgia members have launched a digital billboard campaign highlighting Major League Baseball’s decision to move the All-Star game out of Georgia.

Members said the MLB acted on “Democrats’ falsehoods about Georgia’s Election Integrity Act.”

Greater Georgia members announced the campaign Monday.

According to its website, Greater Georgia members support, among other things, individual liberties, lower taxes, and educational choice.

The billboards feature Stacey Abrams, U.S. President Joe Biden, and U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA). Greater Georgia members say that those three individuals promoted false narratives that provoked people to boycott the state. Greater Georgia members are displaying the billboards in high-traffic areas near Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves. The campaign, group members said, reminds Georgians of the consequences of the boycott, including the loss of a $100-million economic impact.

Greater Georgia Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler (pictured right) said in an emailed press release that “the MLB’s hypocritical boycott was driven by misinformation repeated by President Biden, whose home state has significantly greater voting restrictions.”

“Fueling the divisive statements and inaccurate information were Stacey Abrams and Sen. Raphael Warnock, who then raised money off of the boycott,” Loeffler said.

“A true loss for the home team, no longer the venue for honoring the iconic Hank Aaron, who did not shrink from the arena, whether in sports or civil rights. I hope others will join me in cheering the Braves on to the playoffs so that we can host the MLB World Series and honor Hank Aaron here in Atlanta.”

Greater Georgia’s press release cited a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll that said 57 percent of adults oppose American companies using their public role, position, or events to influence political, cultural, or social change. Greater Georgia also cited a Morning Consult poll that said the MLB’s net favorability rating among Republicans is now 12 percent due to a 35-percentage-point drop over the past month.

“The billboards will serve as a cautionary reminder of misinformation promoted by liberals in their push for one-party control in the U.S. Greater Georgia will continue to be a voice for hardworking Georgians who are on the losing end of the Democrats’ destructive cancel culture, the complicit mainstream media, and the harmful, political decisions of organizations who put politics before people,” according to the Greater Georgia press release.

As The Georgia Star News reported this month, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said Major League Baseball officials caved “to fear, political opportunism, and liberal lies.” This, after MLB officials announced earlier in the day that they will relocate the 2021 All-Star Game and MLB Draft, originally scheduled for Atlanta, to another location. They specifically cited Georgia’s new voter integrity law, Senate Bill 202.

As  reported, this new voter reform law requires voter ID on all absentee ballots and increased oversight of local election boards that fail to follow state election law.
