Trump Co-Defendant John Eastman Turns Himself in to Fulton County Officials in 2020 Election Case

by Madeleine Hubbard

Attorney John Eastman turned himself in Tuesday to the Fulton County jail, records show, after he was indicted last week alongside former President Donald Trump and 17 other co-conspirators for their alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

Eastman said Tuesday that the indictment “should never have been brought” and that it “targets attorneys for their zealous advocacy on behalf of their clients.”

Eastman is accused of advising Trump before he left office that then-Vice President Mike Pence could reject electors from disputed states that Biden won and replace the electors with ones supporting Trump.

He faces 10 charges related to alleged attempts to overturn the election in Georgia, including racketeering and conspiracy to commit forgery, records show.

CASE

Eastman had agreed Monday to post a $100,000 bond.

Co-defendant Scott Hall, an Atlanta bail bondsman, also turned himself in Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Trump said he will turn himself in to Georgia authorities on Thursday.
